WHY WE NEED AIR CONDITIONING.

What Is Air Conditioning -

Air Conditioning is a form of air treatment whereby temperature, humidity, ventilation and air cleanliness are all controlled within limits determined by the requirements of the controlled space.

Why We All Need Air Conditioning -

People have different reasons for requiring air conditioning, their principal one is to improve comfort and productivity. Air Conditioning can do this by counteracting internal heat gains, especially those arising from occupants, lighting, electrical equipment and machinery.

The workplace, be it an office, shop, restaurant, factory or waiting room is potentially a very warm area. Items such as computers, photocopiers, lights and even people transfer a considerable amount of warmth into the environment. High temperatures make conditions uncomfortable and not conducive to efficiency.

As well as our increased reliance upon technology, other features warm our workplace; the climate has an effect, with average temperatures increasing each year, and this situation is expected to continue.

Modern construction methods are also a factor. Buildings are more insulated which prevents warm air escaping. The sun shining into a large window can very quickly increase the internal temperature.

A product or process may require air conditioning – e.g. computer installations, printing work and pharmaceutical or electrical component manufacturing.

Air conditioning may be required to meet practical requirements - as in operating theatres and in other hospital facilities.

Health and Safety regulations can also require the need for air conditioning; recent regulations state that employers must provide effective and suitable ventilation. Regulations also state a need for temperature control, stating that the temperature in a building must be "reasonable", in effect the temperature must be between 16° C and 24°C.

These are just some of the factors which make air conditioning a modern necessity. A properly designed and installed system will accurately provide cool air in the spring/ summer, and if required warm air in the autumn /winter. Added features such as de-humidification, and fragrances as well as pollen and viral filters can also be provided.

The Benefits Of Air Conditioning -

As you would expect from such an important addition to an environment, air conditioning can have numerous benefits, some of these can be very specific to the particular installation, e.g. within a hospital. In general terms though the benefits of a modern air conditioning system are:

These are just a few of the proven benefits of an air conditioning system, there are numerous others which we are sure will become apparent if we supply you with a system.
